As 2022 draws to a close, we look back at those jailed for drug-related crimes in east London during the last 12 months.

Slawomir Soban

Police caught Slawomir Soban, 34 of Little Warley, Brentwood, with a backpack containing a quantity of amphetamine, three large containers of methanol - a chemical used to make it - and two mobile phones.

They then found £4,000 in cash and more mobile phones and methanol at his Hendon home.

He was sentenced at Harrow Crown Court on October 21 after pleading guilty to the production of a Class B drug at an earlier hearing.

Attiq Ur Rehman, 41, of Stafford Road, East Ham; Sarbit Chumber, 48, of Vicarage Farm Road, Hounslow and Kashif Mushtaq, 38, of Heaton Close, Romford, were all found guilty of Class A and B drug importation at Southwark Crown Court on April 1.

Rehman was jailed for nine years and six months; Chumber for 14 years and Mushtaq for 17 years and six months.

Darryl Addae

Darryl Addae from East Ham was jailed for five years and seven months at Maidstone Crown Court on April 7 for selling heroin and crack cocaine.

Addae was caught after the car he used to transport drugs was located at a property in Dagenham.

When officers executed a warrant at that address, the drug dealer ran from the back door but was detained.

The trio smuggled drugs hidden inside of boxes used to transport sweet potatoes.

Nassar Al-Rashed

Nasser Al-Rashed, of Linkway, Dagenham was found to be running the "Ash" drugs line, with about £4,600 worth of drugs found at a property linked to him.

The 25-year-old was jailed for a total of five years and nine months on July 27 at Ipswich Crown Court.

He had pleaded guilty to two counts of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.

Claudio Tunio

This drug dealer from Canning Town was caught after trying to run away from police officers in Southend.

After arresting the 28-year-old, officers were told by a member of the public that Tunio had thrown something under a nearby vehicle and they found 35 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin.

They later found more drugs with an estimated street value of £1,770 at his Trinity Gardens home.

Tunio was jailed in March for a total of five and a half years after admitting possession with intent to supply both crack cocaine and heroin as well as cannabis possession.
