A nursery that sends children home with "fun activity bags" to help them learn has received Ofsted's highest possible rating.

Inspectors who visited Playdays Preschool 2, in Myrtle Road, Harold Hill, on November 1 praised its management and relationship with parents.

Rated 'good' after its previous inspection in 2016, the nursery was upgraded to 'outstanding' in a report published on Monday (December 5).

Inspectors said the preschool was led by "an exceptionally driven and ambitious leader" who is "passionate" about helping her pupils reach their full potential.

They found that she and her team have "excellent systems in place" to make sure they know the children's individual needs well.

The report praised a "strong focus" on helping children to learn more at home; inspectors noted that staff give out "fun activity bags" to get pupils working on their literacy, maths and co-ordination outside the nursery.

Ofsted found relationships between parents and staff to be "superb", with parents giving glowing opinions of the care and education they see their children receive.

In a statement, the Playdays Preschool 2 manager Lindsay Martin said that she and her team are "overwhelmed" to have achieved an outstanding report that she believes "reflects the hard work and dedication of herself and her team on a daily basis".

She said that at Playdays Preschool 2, staff ensure that they set an "excellent foundation" to help children be abe to build their future.

Lindsay said she promotes the nursery as an "all-inclusive preschool" where each child is given equal opportunities to "discover and develop through high-quality, play-based learning".

She described the preschool as a "warm, caring and secure environment" where the children they care for are happy.

Lindsay and her team would like to thank the parents for their co-operation, which they believe is "key to an outstanding outcome".
