The victim of a hit-and-run crash in North Cheam has been named for the first time. 

Police were called just after 6.15pm on Thursday, November 17, to reports of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Courtenay Road.

Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the pedestrian, a 78-year-old man, died at the scene.

He has since been identified as Juan Veiga-Vidal from Sutton.

His family have been informed and are being supported by officers.

The car failed to stop at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to locate the driver.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or has dash cam footage from the area, is asked to call the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0208 543 5157.
