An elderly man was killed in a collision with a car in North Cheam yesterday (November 19).

Paramedics were called to Courtenay Road at 6.13pm to a man injured after he had been hit by a vehicle.

Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he died at the scene.

Police were also called to the crash.

The car involved did not stop after the incident and no arrests have been made at this time.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 6.16pm on Thursday, 17 November to Courtenay Road, North Cheam, following a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

“Officers attended along with LAS. The man, aged in his 70s, was treated at the scene but despite the efforts of paramedics he died.

“His family have been informed. The car did not stop at the scene.

“No arrests have been made. Enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has dash cam footage, is asked to call 101 or tweet @MetCC ref CAD 5980/17 Nov.”

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 6.13pm yesterday (17 November) to reports of a road traffic collision on Courtenay Road, North Cheam.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, a medic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and a clinical team leader.

“We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance by car.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a person died at the scene.”
