Palace are reportedly in negotiations to bring in American international keeper Ian Feuer as a replacement for injured Matt Clarke.
With Clarke set to undergo surgery on knee ligaments that will keep him out for months, Francis is desperate to bring in a keeper with 17-year-old Lance Cronin his only cover for Alex Kolinko.
Feuer, 31, has played for Luton, West Ham, Wimbledon and Derby, before joining Wolves on a week-to-week basis this month. A deal for the 6ft6ins stopper may be completed in time for Sunday's game against Gillingham.
