Two Wandsworth men have been jailed yesterday after a coke and booze binge ended with them kidnapping one man and brutally stabbing another.

Unrepentant Craig Ainslie, 22, of Boundaries Road, Balham, and Asha Grey, 21, of Lousiville Road, Tooting Bec, laughed as they were led from court.

Ainslie, Grey and a third man - 17-year-old Carl Dinnage from Carshalton, Sutton, pleaded guilty to committing three robberies on September 22 last year.

Inner London Crown Court had heard how the trio had cruised the streets for victims after snorting coke and quaffing champagne at a pal's birthday bash in Chelsea.

Just after midnight they beat-up pizza delivery driver Mohammed Dost in Crieff Road, Wandsworth using his own helmet as a weapon in the attack.

Kidnap

Ten minutes later the gang pounced on Neil Dyer, 30, in Homepark Road, Wimbledon. After beating him on the road they bundled him into the boot of their stolen Ford Fiesta and continually punched him in the face as they drove off.

One gang member produced a knife and told the victim he was going to be killed while drawing the knife across his shin.

After stealing his wallet, watch and phone they demanded his bank PIN number - kicking and punching him repeatedly until he finally told them.

As the gang got out at Penwith Road, Earlsfield, Mr Dyer escaped out a passenger door.

Traumatised and severely beaten he was taken to hospital with a broken nose, black eyes, split lips and severe swelling.

An hour later Nick Rappolt, a 31-year-old PR consultant, was preyed on while walking along Wakehurst Road, Battersea.

He felt someone grab his mobile phone as he was talking to his wife and when he turned towards his attacker, Grey, who stabbed him with a combat knife through the arm before running off.

Mr Rappolt nearly died due to the blood loss and underwent ten hours of surgery to save his arm.

His wife heard the entire incident through her phone.

The gang were caught when a Ford Fiesta found burning on Wandsworth Common later that day was linked to them.

Barbaric

Judge Roger Chapple told the three: "I'm told in this court almost daily of the dreadful things people do but still once in a while a case comes along that has the ability to shock me, this is such a case.

"Your behaviour that night was as barbaric as it was shocking. The feature of this case is the level of violence used and it was entirely gratuitous."

Grey will serve a minimum term of five years, Ainslie will serve a minimum of four.

The judge added: "'You may very well remain in custody for a great deal longer than that."

Dinnage was handed a two-year detention and training order.

Sean Stimson, Detective Constable of Wandsworth CID, said: "The investigation was swiftly carried out and the men captured without any delay.

"It is reassuring for the public to know they are behind bars and will not be roaming the streets of south west London."
