Singer Amy Winehouse will not face charges in connection with an alleged conspiracy to pervert the course of justice involving her husband.

Police are taking no further action against the star, Scotland Yard said.

She was arrested "by appointment" in December and voluntarily attended a police station.

Her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court in east London, where he pleaded not guilty to a charge of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "A 24-year-old woman arrested by appointment at an east London police station on December 18 will not be required to answer bail following advice from the Crown Prosecution Service. No further action will be taken."

A spokesman for the Back To Black star said: "Police will be taking no further action against Amy Winehouse in connection with their ongoing investigation into an allegation of an attempt to pervert the course of justice.

"Amy was released on police bail and was due to return to the police station, but will now no longer be required.

"Police have confirmed that she is no longer a suspect in the case after interviewing her in December.

"Amy is pleased to be discounted from the investigation and thanks the police for their professionalism in their dealings with her."

Amy was a student at Croydon's Brit School.
