Some time ago I began writing to Richard Ottaway, my representative in Parliament.

I expressed concern at the abuse of expenses by the Hon Member for Old Bexley and Sidcup. I felt that 10 days suspension was grossly inadequate and the repayment of £13,000 derisory.

He can pay that back out of his expenses.

This MP offering to resign at the next election can still collect over a period of two years £400,000 pounds or so in salaries and allowances and still get a fat pay-off cheque and a really generous pension.

I don't wonder why none of them resign for other jobs. They may have to give up their holidays and private properties. They could not afford them if they had a proper job.

Do MPs really represent any interests but their own and their paymasters?

Recent events in Parliament from cash for honours and non-declaration of donations have saddened me, especially when servicemen and women are dying to bring about a democratic system in Afghanistan and Iraq.

When policemen and nurses and doctors are denied pay rises because of cost there is always enough money to pay for MPs and other politicians.

I had a meeting planned with Richard Ottaway but cancelled it because I would not feel he had my interests at heart.

It was a good photo of him and Cameron - notice he had his hand on his wallet. Perhaps he thought David would steal it.
