Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder as police search for a missing student nurse last seen in Croydon.

Owami Davies, from Grays in Essex, left her family home on Monday, July 4.

Owami was last seen just after midnight in Derby Road in West Croydon on Thursday, July 7.

The 24-year-old is a student nurse - and police said on Sunday they are "extremely concerned" for her welfare.

On Monday, two men, aged 27 and 23, were arrested in the Croydon area on suspicion of murder.

They were taken to a south London police station where they remain in custody.

Police are still leading enquiries to locate Owami.

Anyone with information about Owami's whereabouts is asked to call police on 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting reference 22MIS025307.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said today: "Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are now leading enquiries to locate 24-year-old Owami Davies because they have the resources and expertise required for a complex investigation.

"This remains a missing person’s investigation.

"On Monday, 1 August two men, aged 27 [A] and 23 [B], were arrested in the Croydon area in connection with the investigation.

"They were taken to a south London police station where they remain in custody.

"Owami from Grays, in Essex, left her family home on Monday, 4 July and was last seen at 00:03hrs in Derby Road, West Croydon, on Thursday, 7 July.

"Anyone with information about Owami's whereabouts is asked to call police on 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting reference 22MIS025307.

"Alternatively, contact the Missing People charity in confidence on 116 000."

On Sunday, Detective Constable Marie Spear, from the Missing Persons Unit in south London, said: "Owami's family have not heard from her for more than three weeks and she has not turned up to work.

"We are currently treating this as a missing person investigation. Owami was in a vulnerable state when she was last seen and we need the public's help in piecing together her movements on the night she went missing.

"I would urge anyone who has seen her, or knows where she is, to contact police immediately.

"I'd also ask people in the West Croydon area to check their sheds and outbuildings and report anything suspicious or out of the ordinary." 

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said on Sunday: "Police are appealing for information about the whereabouts of a student nurse, who has been missing for more than three weeks.

"Owami Davies, of Grays, Essex, left her family home on Monday, 4 July and was last seen at 00:03hrs in Derby Road, West Croydon, on Thursday, 7 July.

"Detectives investigating the 24-year-old's disappearance are extremely concerned for her welfare and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen her on the night on Wednesday, 6 July, or the early hours of the next day.

"Anyone with information about Owami's whereabouts is asked to call police on 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting reference 22MIS025307. 

"Alternatively, contact the Missing People charity in confidence on 116 000."
