Police have released CCTV images of a convicted rapist who escaped while being moved from Lambeth Hospital.

Terrence O'Keefe, 39, who is serving a life sentence for rape, was being moved from the hospital about 2pm on Friday when he escaped.

Detective Inspector Steve Miles, from Lambeth Police, urged anyone who saw O'Keefe not to approach him and to call the police.

"O'Keefe is an extremely dangerous man and if members of the public see him they should immediately dial 999 and not approach him.

"I am also making a direct appeal for O'Keefe to hand himself in at his nearest police station.

"The picture we have issued is a recent one and shows a good likeness, which has already prompted calls from the public.

"Hopefully these new images will help generate information that leads to his whereabouts.

"We have a dedicated team of officers searching for him and are treating his escape extremely seriously due to the potential threat he poses to the public."

O'Keefe is described as a very light-skinned black man, who may be wearing glasses.

He was last seen wearing a green fleece jumper, black jeans, and tanned Timberland-style boots.

He has short brown hair around the back and sides of his head. The top of his head is bald.

O' Keefe is known to have connections in both London and Liverpool and was being moved to Kings College Hospital for treatment when he escaped.

Anyone with information should phone Kennington Police on 07768 463 727 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
