Metropolitan Police boss Jimmy Cooper has warned his side they still need to improve despite notching a fifth straight win on Saturday.

The Blues brushed aside relegation-haunted Horsham YMCA 2-0 to maintain their grip on third spot in Ryman Divison One South.

But Cooper insisted there were still areas to work on.

He said: "I know it is a cliché but it really was a game of two halves.

"As good as we were in the first half, we were ridiculously poor in the second.

"I think the boys came out after half-time thinking the job was done.

"That was fine on Saturday but we will come unstuck when we come up against the really top teams."

Craig Carley netted a double to continue his recent rich vein of goalscoring form. But Cooper revealed that even the livewire striker's name was not guaranteed on his teamsheet.

He added: "I thought Craig did well but I don't want to single him out, as the rest of the team played well.

"There is a real competition for places at the moment and everyone knows that if they have a bad game they could be dropped.

"It has taken time for things to gel but the boys are now really playing together."

The Blues' play-off credentials face a severe test this weekend when they travel to a Cray Wanderers side on a 20-match unbeaten run. And Cooper admitted it was a crunch clash.

He added: "It's a massive game because we have opened up a bit of a gap.

"The players are going out at the moment thinking they will win whomever they come up against.

"If we can win there, we know someone below us will drop points."
