Walton & Hersham boss Les Cleevely accused Ryman South referees of risking his side's promotion hopes after the Swans shared the points in a controversial six-goal thriller with Kingstonian on Saturday.

Walton appeared to be coasting to a vital win over their play-off rivals when leading 3-1 with 20 minutes to play, thanks to a Julien Thompson hat-trick.

But a dubious penalty decision threw Ks a lifeline and they struck back to earn a share of the spoils.

And Cleevely let rip at the man in the middle.

He said: "It was a shambles. The game was over when we led 3-1 and then the ref makes a ridiculous penalty decision.

"The ref saw something nobody else did - even their player admitted he had bought the pen.

"I am totally fed up with talking about the standard of refereeing."

Walton missed a chance to leapfrog Ks into the top five but Cleevely remained bullish about his side's chances.

He added: "We still have two games in hand.

"The league will not be decided by what happens this week.

"I wasn't disappointed in the performance - just the result."

The Swans visit fellow promotion hopefuls Sittingbourne this weekend.

Cleeveley added: "After Sittingbourne, our run in is pretty good but it is still all about one game at a time.

"We have to remain calm, continue to play football and keep working hard."
