The Foo Fighters have announced that they will hold an "all-star" tribute concert in memory of the band's late drummer Taylor Hawkins at Wembley Stadium.

Hawkins, 50, was with the band in the Colombian capital of Bogota when he suddenly died in March ahead of playing a show.

Following the tragic news, the band cancelled their tour dates and any public appearances describing it as a "tragic and untimely loss" in a statement.

Now three months on, the band have shared the news that they will be putting on two performances in his memory, called the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts.

The news was shared in a statement from the band members, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee and frontman Dave Grohl shared they wanted to pay tribute to their bandmate and "beloved brother" by celebrating his talent.

The statement said: "For our dear friend, our badass bandmate, our beloved brother…Foo Fighters and The Hawkins family bring you the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concerts."

The two concerts are taking place at London's Wembley Stadium on September 3rd and Los Angeles' Kia Forum on September 27.

The line-up for the shows is yet to be announced with details expected to be revealed shortly.

The show will mark the band's first concert since the passing of Taylor.

Taylor Hawkins's wife, Alison Hawkins shared a statement discussing the concert saying: "As Taylor's wife, and on behalf of our children, I want to share how much you meant to him and how dedicated he was to 'knocking your socks off' during every performance.

"Taylor was honored to be a part of the Foo Fighters and valued his dream role in the band every minute of his 25 years with them."

Hawkins joined the band back in 1997 after previously touring with Alanis Morisette and was renowned for being an inspiration for many drummers.
