As the nation celebrates the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, Londoners are now being warned to check journeys before heading out.

The warning comes as huge crowds are expected to hit the capital for the four-day bank holiday.

With road closures and some stations also shut in a bid to control the large volume of people of traveling through the city. 

Transport for London is hoping the newly opened Elizabeth Line will take some pressure off the networks as it will run on a Sunday for the first time ever.

Services are expected to be their busiest on Saturday night and during the daytime on Sunday. 

With network advisers encourage travellers to use the TfL Go app or website to check the latest and most up-to-date service status.

How to get around London during the Platinum Jubilee: 

Although all Tube and rail services will be running as usual over the bank holiday weekend, some stations will be closed to handle the extra numbers of people in the capital. 

Plans are in place for Charing Cross and St James Park station to be shut after 3pm on Saturday, June 4. 

Whilst Hyde Park Station will be exit only from 4pm and is planned to close after 9pm.

Plus St Jame's Park station will close after 1pm on Sunday, June 5, with Westminster closed from 10am though travelers can still change between Circle, District, and Jubilee lines. 

And if you're planning on taking advanced of the extended licensing hours, you can use the Night Tube on the Central, Jubilee and Victoria lines on Friday and Saturday. 

Buses are set to be running as normal, but Arriva is advising customers to check routes before heading out. 

In general, services will be a lot busier than normal on Saturday and Sunday, with TfL encouraging people to check and be aware of the more than normal busy service.
