Children from Joseph Hood Primary School were beaming last week when their 24 solar panels were officially switched on.
The school, in Whatley Avenue, Raynes Park, was picked as one of 100 UK schools to receive the £20,000 panels, half-funded by the Co-operative Group with match-funding from the Government.
The photovoltaic panels should generate 3,300 kW of electricity each year - enough to power a school computer for 33,000 hours.
