Diners at an Egham restaurant were left choking on their chips after two vehicles in its car park were broken in to.

Runnymede crime reduction officer PC Maureen Ions is now warning motorists not to leave valuables in their cars following the thefts at the Loch Fyne Restaurant.

The first incident happened between 7.30pm and 11.30pm on Thursday, January 10, when thieves smashed the rear window of a grey BMW and stole a £200 laptop.

On Tuesday, January 15, between 7pm and 10pm a second incident at the restaurant car park saw thieves break in to a Peugeot 407 Estate's boot and steal £1,078 worth of computer equipment.

Loch Fyne assistant manager Girish Kotian, 28, said: "They know exactly when the restaurant is busy and they know what they are doing.

"It happened in the right hand side of the car park where the CCTV was at its poorest. We are looking to sort this out."
