A man from Croydon has been slapped with a large fine in court for drink-driving in the car park of a McDonald’s restaurant.

Anthony Williams drove a BMW 1 Series in the McDonald’s car park in Croydon Road on March 28, 2022 while under the influence of alcohol.

The 27-year-old had 59 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – which exceeds the prescribed limit.

Williams, of Woodcroft Road in Croydon, was ordered to pay £855 for the offence during a hearing at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on April 20.

This includes a £700 fine, £70 surcharge to fund victim services and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

He was also disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 15 months.

This can be reduced by 15 weeks if Williams completes a course approved by the Secretary of State by February 5, 2023.
