Feminist author and cultural commentator Germaine Greer will host a talk at Royal Holloway on an ancient Greek poet.
The Celebrity Big Brother contestant will lecture on Sappho, from the island of Lesbos, whose persona has throughout history become increasing linked to female homosexuality.
The talk, on Monday, February, 4, will focus on whether Sappho can still be considered an historical figure or whether her deeds have ascended too far into myth.
Professor of classical theatre at Royal Holloway Edith Hall said: "Sappho has been repeatedly appropriated and reappropriated, both in antiquity and since the Renaissance, so it proves extremely difficult to work out exactly who Sappho really was."
All are welcome to attend the event, which starts at 6pm in the Windsor Building Auditorium.
