At a time when it seems fashionable to malign the NHS and, from time to time, particular hospitals, I just wanted to place on record my experience upon admission to Accident and Emergency at St Helier Hospital earlier this month.
The urgent assessment of my medical condition, the treatment given and subsequent monitoring of me by the medical and nursing staff on the clinical assessment unit was second to none.
Given that the nursing staff - who are often working very long shifts - were often distracted by an over-active dementia patient on my ward, to receive such effective and caring treatment was really some achievement and I would like to thank all of the staff concerned.
