A man has died after a semi-detached house was damaged by a fire in south Croydon.
Firefighters were called to a fire on Sandpiper Road last night (March 25) at 11.19pm.
The brigade found a man in the ground floor extension who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Addington, Croydon and Purley fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
The fire was under control by 12.24am.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Sadly, a man has died following a house fire on Sandpiper Road in South Croydon.
Part of the ground floor of a semi-detached house was damaged by fire.
“Firefighters found a man in the ground floor extension who was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“The Brigade was called at 2319 and the fire was under control by 0024.
“Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Addington, Croydon and Purley fire stations attended the scene.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.”
