A mum-of-two who is battling liver cancer is aiming to raise awareness and money for her condition through a charity walk with Giovanna Fletcher.

Nicole Hall, from Wallington, will be walking 100 kilometres in June as she aims to raise more than £5,000 for breast cancer charity CoppaFeel.

The 39-year-old told Your Local Guardian she will be walking 20km a day for five days while also camping on the coastline of Pembrokeshire.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 33 in 2017 and then was diagnosed with liver cancer in May 2021.

Nicole said: “When I found out that I had cancer I thought to myself I just want at least another five years to live.

“I wanted my kids to remember me by something as they were only two and five years old at the time.

“It’s hard because when you’ve got kids it’s the thought of not being around for them it was difficult to come to terms with.”

Nicole said she the walk was the “perfect opportunity” to challenge herself while undergoing chemotherapy.

She said it was also a chance to show her kids on how their mum can overcome a challenge while also battling with her condition.

She explained: “My dad’s mum died of cancer when she was 38-years old.

"I then thought that to myself if history was repeating itself.

“My aim is to reach the age of 40 and get my kids into high school and most importantly having fun along this journey and that’s why I decided to do this walk.”

Nicole said she was “thrilled” to see Giovanna being involved within the charity walk as she is someone that she is inspired by.

She added: “It’s amazing, it really is.

“Giovanna comes across as such a nice person and she also stands for a lot of important things.

“She also does a lot for the community and to walk by her side during this charity walk will be such a wonderful opportunity.

“We’re not sure yet but hopefully other celebrities will be involved too.”

Nicole said she’s being going on walks through her local area by focusing on a regime plan to prepare her for the walk.

She also has previously been involved with other charity walks to help raise money for cancer awareness.

Nicole explained: “I feel like my kids are the reason why I’m involved in these kinds of events.

“I want them to have something to remember me by.

“I’m hoping they can see their mum at the finish line in Pembrokeshire.

“They’re truly excited for me.”

Nicole is also planning to host a fundraiser event at Wallington Sports Club to raise more awareness for her condition.

She said she will keep doing anything “possible” to now raise awareness and help others who are also battling cancer.
