A drug dealer from Sutton has been sentenced to four years behind bars after hiding heroin in a Kinder Egg.

Sutton police confirmed that Haile Hamilton, 29, was found guilty of supplying crack cocaine and heroin at Croydon Crown Court on Wednesday January 12, 2022.

Officers arrested Hamilton on June 24, 2020, after he was found hiding 40 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin in a Kinder Egg toy.

Police made the arrest when patrolling Sutton in an unmarked car.

Officers spotted two known drug users in the area who appeared to be waiting for someone.

Officers then pulled over a car on nearby Waterloo Road and identified Hamilton as the driver.

Police say they had to force entry into the car and detain Hamilton as he refused to exit the vehicle.

Two phones were recovered from the car alongside a Kinder Egg containing drugs, which officers say Hamilton had tried to conceal.

A spokesperson for Sutton police said on Thursday: “A drug dealer who was caught by police dealing class A drugs from his car has been jailed for four years.

“Haile Hamilton, 29 of St Barnabus Road, Sutton and another address in Mitcham was sentenced at Croydon Crown Court on Wednesday 12th January 2022 after a trial where he was found guilty of supplying crack cocaine and heroin.

“The court heard officers were out on patrol in Sutton in an unmarked police car in the afternoon of 24th June 2020 when they spotted two known drug users who appeared to be waiting for someone.

“Officers pulled over a car on the adjoining Waterloo Road and identified HAMILTON as the sole occupant.

“When officers tried to speak to Hamilton he initially refused to exit his Vehicle.

“He was seen to attempt to conceal a yellow kinder egg toy container and two mobile phones.

“Police forced entry into the car and detained Hamilton.

“The two phones were recovered as well as the yellow kinder container containing 40 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin.

“The phones found in Hamilton’s car were examined and shown to contain messages related to drug supply.

“The proactive work of officers from the Sutton Central and Sutton North Neighbourhood Teams led to a class A drug dealer being taken off of the streets of Sutton.

“The impact of drugs on our communities can be devastating, and we work hard to bring drug dealers to justice and take them out of our neighbourhoods.”
