A woman arrested in the wake of the deadly Sutton house fire that claimed the lives of four young boys has been bailed.

The Met announced on Saturday (December 18) that the 27-year-old, who was arrested on suspicion of child neglect, would return to a south London police station in "mid-January".

As the Sutton Guardian reported, four young boys died after the fire at a house on Collingwood Road in Sutton on Thursday evening (December 16).

The first fire crews on scene were faced with an intense blaze throughout the whole of the ground floor.

All the children were rescued from the fire but sadly later pronounced dead.

Formal identification awaits, though as details of the tragic incident emerged, the boys were named locally on Facebook by their Grandfather Jason Hoath, who posted:

"I am devastated to say that the horrendous house fire that took place in Sutton last night leading to four children loosing there life’s were my amazing smart and beautiful grandsons.

"KYSON and BRYSON aged 4

The investigation into what happened, which is being led by detectives from the South Area Command Unit, continues.

Flowers have been laid close to the scene of the fire as tributes to the boys continue to pour in from across London and further afield.

Chief Superintendent Dave Stringer, policing commander for Sutton, Croydon and Bromley, said: "The thoughts of everyone at the Metropolitan Police are with the family and friends of the four young boys who lost their lives in this tragic incident.

"We know it will have come as a great shock to the local community and as part of that community, we are here to offer whatever support we can.

"Local detectives continue to investigate and will be working with colleagues from the London Fire Brigade to determine what caused the fire and to investigate any other relevant matters.

"We will continue to work with the local authority and the wider community to support local residents as they come to terms with this tragic loss."
