Police are appealing for witnesses after a 93-year-old woman died following a crash in Croydon.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene at around 4.30pm on Wednesday in Addington Road.

The crash in South Croydon involved a van and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian – a 93-year-old woman – was found with serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the van stopped at the scene.

There have been no arrests.

Enquiries are ongoing, led by officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Catford.

They are appealing for any witnesses who are yet to speak to the police to come forward by calling 020 8285 1574, providing the reference 5175/15DEC.

In particular, they want to hear from anyone who may have captured the incident on dash cam or other camera footage.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a fatal road traffic collision in Croydon.

"Police were called by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) at 16:26hrs on Wednesday, 15 December following reports of a collision in Addington Road, South Croydon involving a van and a pedestrian.

"Officers attended with paramedics.

"The pedestrian – a 93-year-old woman – was found with serious injuries and despite the efforts of the emergency services she was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Her family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

"The driver of the van stopped at the scene.

"There have been no arrests.
