THE staff at Oxleas NHS Trust are singing away to encourage people to be vaccinated against the flu this winter.

A video released by the Oxleas NHS Trust shows staff singing to their own version of the original Carl Douglas song, Kung Fu Fighting.

The Kung Fu fighting line is replaced with come flu flighting during the catchy song.

The lyrics also ensure that the flu jab is “quick as lightening” and it is “the right thing” to do.

The video also dismisses any rumours on how the flu jab can make a person ill.

They sing to: “They say the jab can make you ill but that really isn’t true.”

Members of the Oxleas NHS trust are also seen wearing protective masks in the video.

A spokesperson for Oxleas NHS trust said their music video puts the “fun factor” into what is a “serious message”.

They said: “When you think of flu, you don’t think fun.

“Our film puts the fun factor into what is a very serious message and having your flu vaccination will protect you, your friends, family and, just as importantly, patients too.

“So, don’t delay – come flu fighting with us today and get your flu jab now!”

Jane Wells, director of nursing at Oxleas NHS said: "I love this film of my colleagues.

"It's so important that we all take up the flu vaccination.

“With COVID mutations continuing, it could be very dangerous if you were to contract both viruses at the same time.

“Please avoid this possibility by making sure you have both the COVID and flu vaccines."

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is also asking eligible people to take the flu vaccine by December 10.

UKHSA is pushing for pregnant women and those with underlying health conditions to come forward.

Health and Social Care Secretary, Sajid Javid said: "The flu vaccination programme is expanding even further this year, with a record 35 million people in England eligible.

"Don’t delay – book your flu vaccine as soon as possible."
