ANOTHER confirmed case of the Omicron coronavirus variant has been detected in south east London.

The fourth Omicron variant in south east London has been identified in Greenwich.

Councillor Danny Thorpe, leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, confirmed this on Twitter.

He said: “Our first cases of #Omnicron have been confirmed in @Royal_Greenwich over the weekend and I’m now asking for everyone’s help to reduce the spread in Greenwich.

"So. Step 1. Test. Test. Test.

"Step 2: Masks are now compulsory in shops and on public transport. Please make sure you’ve got yours.

"Step 3: Get your booster booked ASAP! There is no excuse! We need to do all we can to keep the show on the road & this is a step everyone can do to help keep everyone as safe as possible across.

"Step 4: Our local health services at @LG_NHS are extremely busy at the moment and facing a lot of pressure.

"Of course, they are still open & there to help but unless you are facing a life-threatening emergency, please call 111 to find out where to get the right care."

A case of the Omicron was previously confirmed in Bexley and a further two in Lewisham.

This now brings the total of Omicron variant cases to 336 across the UK, confirm the UK Health Security Agency.
