Alexandra Burke was set to perform at the East Village Christmas lights switch on but it has since been cancelled.
In a statement from organisers, Get Living they announced that "following discussions with the Metropolitan Police, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel The E20 Xmas Light Switch On next Thursday 2 December."
The cancellation comes after an extensive risk assessment was carried out and took into account the " unprecedented interest in the event" forcing it to be stopped to protect the health and safety of all involved.
The team behind the event also added that "public safety is absolutely paramount to Get Living and Team East Village" and that they were sorry to disappoint everyone looking forward to the event.
They ended the statement by stating that they are working with Alexandra Burke's team to secure a new date for her performance next summer.
