A man has been taken to a "major trauma centre" after a car crash in Chessington this afternoon (Wednesday, November 3).

Road closures and an emergency services presence were reported around Mansfield Road, Hook Road and Leatherhead Road in Chessington on Wednesday afternoon.

Kingston Council warned road users of closures in the area, while the emergency services later confirmed that a crash between "two vehicles" had taken place.

Responding to a request from the Surrey Comet, a spokesperson for London Ambulance Service (LAS) said that a man had been treated at the scene and then taken to a "major trauma centre".

""We were called at 3.19pm today (3 November) to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Mansfield Road, Kingston.

"We sent an ambulance crew and a clinical team leader.

"We treated a man at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre as a priority," the spokesperson said.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told the Surrey Comet: 

"Police were called at 15:15hrs on Wednesday, 3 November to reports of a collision involving two cars on Mansfield Road in Chessington.

"Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended. One person was taken to hospital; their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."
