Crystal Palace chief Neil Warnock insists there is no pressure on his ever-improving side despite their meteoric rise up the Championship table.

Goals from Clinton Morrison, Shaun Scannell and James Scowcroft gave Palace a comfortable 3-0 victory over Wolves at Molineux on Saturday.

The win blasted Palace into the play-off spots fuelling suggestions that Warnock's side could be ready to mount a serious and sustained promotion challenge.

It is hard not to recognise the similarities in Palace's current charge up the table with that off Iain Dowie's first season in charge at Selhurst Club when he guided the then relegation threatened side to play-off final glory against West Ham in 2004.

But Warnock insists his players are not getting carried away with Palace's recent upturn in fortunes.

He said: "There are no big-time Charlie's here.

"The pressure is off because everyone thought we were going to get relegated.

"We are nowhere near the finished article - but we are a hard team to play against and can become a lot better.

"It's nice for us to be up there in sixth place - but I'm too long in the tooth to get carried away."

Despite the overwhelming scoreline against Mick McCarthy's side the former Sheffield United chief said the game could have gone either way.

"Obviously I'm delighted with the win but the goals changed everything and they came at the right time.

"Everytime they got on top, we scored another goal.

"It's a cruel game at times and I don't think Wolves could have given anymore."
