An investigation has been launched after two cars were stolen on a single night in Oxted, just south of the M25 in Surrey.

The thefts both happened within hours of each other on the night of Friday to Saturday (August 20-21), police said.

The first targeted a residential driveway on Woodhurst Lane, where a grey Mercedes was stolen.

Police said the theft occurred sometime overnight between 7pm on Friday and 9.45am on Saturday.

"A second theft of a white BMW M3, also occurred on the same night from a nearby residential address on Oast Road, Hurst Green. It is believed this took place between 7.30pm on Friday, 20 August, and 8.30am on Saturday, 21 August," a Surrey Police statement appealing for information read.

The thefts follow a number of car-related crimes in the region, with catalytic converter thefts a frequent issue in recent years.

Two witness appeals have meanwhile been launched by police after the Oxted thefts, who are urging residents to get in touch via their website or by calling 101 and quoting 45210088588 or PR/45210088566 respectively.
