A man has sadly died near to the Centrale Shopping Centre in Croydon this afternoon (Monday, August 16), emergency services have said.

Footage of an air ambulance landing in the area and a heavy emergency services presence was posted online on Monday afternoon as first responders attended at Priddy's Yard to reports of a "fall from a height".

It later emerged that a man aged 41 had been pronounced dead at the scene.

Responding to a request from the Croydon Guardian, a spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said:

"We were called at 1.58pm today (16 August) to reports of an incident on Priddy's Yard, Croydon.

"We sent an ambulance crew, three medics in cars, and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance.

"Sadly, a man died at the scene."

The Metropolitan Police also attended, saying they were now investigating but treating the death as "non-suspicious" at present.

A Met spokesperson said:

"Police were called at approximately 14:00hrs on Monday, 16 August to Priddy's Yard to reports of a fall from height.

"Officers and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended the scene and found a man, aged 41, unconscious and not breathing.

"Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced life extinct at 14:29hrs.

"A crime scene has been established while enquiries are carried out. The death is currently being treated as non-suspicious."
