Nearly half of the most affordable Michelin-Star restaurants are based in London, according to a new survey.

When you think of Michelin-star restaurants, you would be forgiven for thinking that the prices of food can be extortionate.

But at some of these world-class institutions meals can be as little as £30. 

As restrictions ease and restaurants open their doors again, banking services provider, thinkmoney, has analysed 148 Michelin one and two-star restaurants for the cheapest options on the menu.

The study analysed 148 Michelin-star restaurants for their least costly meals and set menus – and found that you can dine out in 45 restaurants for under £40 per person.

A total of 21 of the 45 restaurants were based in London, suggesting that the price of Michelin-star meals in the capital is not as unaffordable as you might think.

Londoners looking for an exquisite meal should visit Hackney, Marylebone, Shoreditch and Kensington for a night that won’t break the bank.

The UK’s most affordable Michelin-star restaurant is Cornerstone, a Michelin one-star restaurant based in Hackney.

Diners can choose from an à la carte menu where you can pick from the menu, with two dishes costing just £21.50 per person.

Trishna is the second cheapest Michelin-star restaurants in the UK and in London, based in Marylebone.

A meal here could cost as little as £23 per person.

In fifth place is BRAT a one-star Michelin restaurant located in Shoreditch, which offers dishes for £24.50 per person.

Near the end of the list but still worth a mention, is Kitchen W8, a fine dining restaurant in Kensington.

A meal will set you back around £26.50.

In 2019, London was voted the best food city in the world, taking first place above the likes of Paris and Rome.

Foodies will be pleased to know Haute cuisine doesn't have to come at a sky-high cost.
