Andy Scott has been appointed new Brentford boss after his impressive stint as caretaker manager.

Scott led the Bees to 10 points out of a possible 15 after replacing sacked boss Terry Butcher last month.

And after his successful time as stand-in boss, the Bees board have handed Scott the role full time.

Chairman Greg Dyke said: "It's the view of the board that with this great run over the Christmas period Andy has earned the chance to show us and the fans that we can maintain a level of performance.

"Under Andy's leadership a team that looked to be in trouble has suddenly come alive."

New chief Scott said: "I am delighted to be named manager.

"In fact, delighted and proud as I see this as an opportunity to move forward in a manner which will enable us to establish and organise ourselves, not only on the football side but also financially and commercially off the pitch and help the club to move forward in every way.

"It is a fantastic chance for both myself and the club to improve.

But Scott insisted long-term improvements will not happen overnight.

"Everyone must accept that it may take time for me to get the players in that are required and to get them playing in a style that I think will be successful."

Scott will be responsible for new signings during the January transfer window.
