Hundreds of families were hit by another network failure in Hackbridge yesterday ( June 17 ).

Residents of New Mill Quarter say they have been plagued with service issues since the first round of apartments became occupied in 2017.

Hackbridge residents said that in the last 12 months, council-owned energy company SDEN, has suffered around twenty network fails, which leaves residents without water and heating.

Chair of New Mill Quarter Sheldon Vestey, told the Sutton Guaridan how residents fear that the issues will continue to take place - with concerns for the winter period.

He said: "Residents were promised 100% reliability and then told that issues would be solved when the system was finally connected, now though this has been proven to be more lies.

"The concern about whether we can heat ourselves abates in summer but will come rushing back in winter as more and more residents pile into this using this faulty system.

"This is no way to live for families with children and hangs over residents as the Council proves itself to be unable to run this business."
