Stand-in boss Andy Scott may find out today whether he has landed the Brentford job on a permanent basis, writes Simon Webster.

A board meeting is being held, with Scott hoping a run of three wins and a draw from five matches has done enough to land him the job.

Glenn Poole, Brentford's two-goal hero in the 2-1 New Year's Day victory at Dagenham & Redbridge, has backed Scott to be appointed as Terry Butcher's permanent successor.

"We are just enjoying it and I hope he gets the job," said Poole.

Scott had spent his new year's eve securing the emergency loan signing of Reading keeper Ben Hamer after Simon Brown injured his ankle in training.

And he believes his chances of landing the job will depend on whether the board want to take up his recommendations of which players to bring in.

"I think they are looking at the players I have recommended and whether they think they are suitable to bring into the club will probably be used partly to decide whether to give me the job," said Scott.

"I can't really do much more. They have only not really performed for 45 minutes when they were down to 10 men.

"Out of five games we have got 10 points and I think anyone would have taken that."

The Bees' success at Dagenham followed on from another inmpressive performance on Saturday, when they thumped Chester City 3-0.

Alan Connell, Ross Montague and Glenn Poole got the goals for the Bees.

"The players gave me everything they possibly could have," said Scott.

"We totally dominated the game. We were worthy of the win and the lads are really on a high at the moment.

"I enjoy playing football and I enjoy watching football. I want to put a team that enjoys playing football out on the pitch and I want the fans to enjoy it.

"Since I have taken over, from Wrexham onwards, the most pleasing thing is everyone has bought into the ideas I have given them. We have looked like a team and played like a team and we have behaved like a team."
