Crystal Palace full-back Danny Butterfield is likely to miss Saturday's FA Cup third round clash against Watford after suffering a groin strain in the 1-1 draw against Norwich City.

Butterfield limped off 33 minutes into the New Year's Day encounter against the Canaries, which saw Palace stretch their unbeaten run to 13 games after Clinton Morrison scored his eleventh goal of the season to cancel out Darel Russell's ninth minute opener.

And the 28-year-old has all but been ruled out of the weekend clash against the Hornets after Eagles boss Neil Warnock confirmed Butterfield had over-extended his groin.

"It looks like Danny has a slight strain on his groin, said Warnock.

"We've not got a league game for 10 days, so Jose Fonte will play against Watford now."

After watching his side continue their impressive undefeated run, Warnock expressed his delight at his sides battling qualities as they fought back from being a goal down to salvage a point - the seventh time Warnock's Palace have come from behind to secure at least a point.

"I'm very pleased to keep the run going because we've had four games in 10 games and we've put a lot into those games.

"We went a goal down again but we don't know when we are beaten and the crowd really got behind us.

"We had some really good chances in the first half but it wasn't to be and we got punished for a bit of sloppiness which meant it was an uphill battle for us."

Warnock reserved special praise for in-form hitman Morrison who got on the scoresheet for the ninth time in eleven outings.

"Clinton will be disappointed he didn't score more than one goal because he had two or three good chances in the first half.

"He has taken his opportunities - but people forget what else he does because I don't think he has worked harder than he is at the moment in his life.

"Football isn't rocket science - I want my players to work hard and when you've got the ability to put the ball in the back of the net then that's the icing on the cake."
