Tooting & Mitcham keeper Dave King say he was in disbelief after scoring his own half in Saturday's 3-0 victory over promotion rivals Kingstonian.

Leading 1-0 through Jacob Erskine strike, the Terrors stopper hit a free-kick goalwards from 15 yards inside his own half.

He said: "Because the wind was behind us, I just hung the ball up and it bounced in the area.

"I was waiting for someone to get a touch on it but no one did and, the next thing I know, it is in the back of the net.

"Everyone started running towards me and then it dawned on me that I had scored.

"I couldn't believe it."

The Terrors' 2006-07 player of the season is more used to saving goals than scoring them, so his bizarre strike came as a pleasant surprise.

"I have not scored a goal before but I liked it," King said.

"It is a different feeling to saving a penalty, but they are equally good.

"I spoke to Billy about a goal bonus after the game so we'll see what happens with that!"

King said as exciting as it was to get on the scoresheet, getting the better of Ks was the most important thing.

"The conditions weren't the best, which didn't make for pretty football but we fought hard for the victory," he added.

"Dover and Cray both dropped points so it was important we got the win."
