It has been over one week since indoor dining resumed, and like many, this vintage tea room couldn't wait to serve customers once again in Cheam.

Tasha’s Tearoom is owned by mother and daughter duo Suzanne and Tasha. They reopened their doors last week alongside other hospitality venues as restrictions eased further on May 17.

The vintage tea room has been trading since 2013, but was forced to close its doors due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Suzanne tells Sutton Guardian how her business adapted to the pandemic and what their first week back was like.

"Our first week of reopening has been amazing," said Suzanne.

"Our lovely customers have been booking tables and for those that are still a bit wary of venturing out we are still preparing afternoon teas for collection."

She added: "We are lucky that we managed to adapt our service to offer home delivery of celebration cakes, afternoon teas and cupcakes during the various lockdowns.

"This kept us busy both mentally and physically and obviously helped during a difficult time financially.

"Hospitality suffered so much with lockdowns announced at short notice, particularly in London, and we worked out that from the beginning of November until reopening last week, the Tearoom had only had customers at tables for 8 days during a short period in December!

"Since being back in the Tearoom it has been so lovely catching up with our customers. They have all been desperate to have their favourite homemade cakes and our wonderful cream teas.

"We still have fewer tables to allow for social distancing and of course masks and hand sanitiser are the norm but hopefully after 21st June we will be able to go back to holding larger functions and hosting birthday parties and baby showers."

Tasha's Tearoom is open from Tuesday to Saturday between the hours of 10am - 4pm.
