Police have launched a murder investigation after a 39-year-old man died in hospital following a stabbing in Richmond this week.

The victim, whom police have now named as Tim Hipperson, was reportedly stabbed in the Kings Road area on Monday (May 17) shortly before 4pm.

While the incident was reported in Kings Road, it is thought he may have been attacked in nearby Peldon Passage.

Officers attended the scene, where Mr Hipperson was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital where he is understood to have received extensive surgery.

Police confirmed he had sadly died from his injuries on Thursday (May 20).

His next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specially trained officers.

Police said officers conducted an area search but no suspects were located.

The investigation is being led by Acting Detective Chief Inspector Maria Green of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Homicide).

DCI Green, said: “This is a tragic development in this case and my thoughts are with Tim’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time.

“I want to take this opportunity to appeal to the local community for help in finding the person or people responsible for Tim’s death. I would ask local residents to check their doorbell footage and dashcams to see if they captured any footage of this incident. I would ask anyone who witnessed this incident or saw something out of the ordinary to get in touch with us at the earliest opportunity.”
