BRAZEN smokers have been fined hundreds of pounds across Hampshire for dropping cigarette ends on the ground.

Dropping a cigarette butt on the ground may seem like a small offence but it can cause great harm to the environment and local wildlife- not to mention it makes our streets look untidy.

Here are a handful of locals who paid big fees for their littering in recent months.

Jolanta Nlkodem of Hill Lane, Southampton was fined a whopping £244 for dropping a cigarette butt at Frensham Great Pond and Common, Farnham.

Jade Hillyard of Paignton Road, Southampton was fined an £84 for dropping a cigarette butt on Shirley High Street, Southampton.

The 28-year-old appeared at West Hampshire Magistrates' Court in March, where she was also told to cough up £34 in a victim surcharge and pay costs of £50.

Jason Wright of Cedar Road, Southampton was fined £71 for dropping a cigarette butt on Portswood Road, Southampton.

The 35-year-old appeared at West Hampshire Magistrates' Court in March, where he was ordered to pay £34 in a victim surcharge and pay costs of £55.

Agata Polakowska, of Sadlers Court, Wokingham was fined £75 for dropping a cigarette butt on the ground in Elvetham Heath Way, Fleet.

The 37-year-old appeared at North Hampshire Magistrates' Court in December, where she was also told to cough up £32 in a victim surcharge and pay costs of £43.

Vicki Anne Marie Hayden of Butlers Close, Romsey, was slapped with a £75 fine for dropping a cigarette butt in Solartron Road, Farnborough.

The 33-year-old appeared at North Hampshire Magistrates' Court in December, where she was also told to cough up £32 in a victim surcharge and pay costs of £43.
