A NEW arts centre is set to open its doors to aspiring young creatives next month in Mitcham. 

The Green Arts Centre, based at Cricket Green School, has been funded by LB Merton’s Neighbourhood Fund and will be offering free theatre and dance workshops to Mitcham youth.

Located at Cricket Green School, the centre will include features such as state-of-the-art lighting and sound equipment with a dance floor, a flexible stage and a brand-new cinema-quality projector and screen.

From September, there will an exciting programme of theatre, music and dance classes for all ages from 6-18 years- which will be offered to children in Mitcham at either at low cost or for free.

This exciting £50,000 project is a partnership between Cricket Green School, Mitcham Town Community Trust, and local charity Wimbledon Civic Theatre Trust (WCTT).

Andrew Alty, who is directing the project for WCTT said: “The Green Arts Centre is the place for all local young people to meet, share, play, have fun and get creative.

"Aspiring actors, singers and dancers need look no further- Green Arts Centre is right on your doorstep.”

The theatre space will also be available for hire at highly competitive rates.
