There are reports of delays of up to 45 minutes on the M25 this morning after a vehicle fire near junction 6.

As of 11am, three lanes of the clockwise carriageway are closed, with tailbacks of more than eight miles to Sevenoaks at junction 5.

It is understood the car fire has been extinguished and a recovery operation is ongoing.

No information has yet been released as to when the road might fully reopen and drivers are being warned to plan their journeys accordingly.

UPDATE 12.30PM: Three lanes still reported closed, with travel time as long as 1hr 30mins.

Lanes one, two and three (Of four) are still closed on the approach to J6, the car has been recovered and the road is being assessed for damage.
