A former Britain's Got Talent star has welcomed his latest single with a beautiful addition to his family – paying tribute to new life during a global pandemic.

Wayne Woodward, of Sutton, marked the news of his newborn daughter Bessie-Willow Robyn Woodward, with a new song called 'Baby Girl.'

‘Baby Girl’ is about the arrival of Wayne’s newborn daughter in an emotional video which shines light on his ‘fantastic’ partner Kayleigh and gives the world an insight into the joys of being a father.

"The reason I dedicated this song to my daughter is because when my partner fell pregnant, I jokingly told her that I’d like a girl and I’d like her to come on my birthday," said Wayne.

"I started writing the song for a baby girl before we even found out the gender. She was born 1 hour and 29 minutes past my birthday. I am April 1, and she is April 2, 2021."

‘Baby Girl’ is the first of many singles that Wayne has played himself on the piano – which he purchased four-months-ago in lockdown as he continues to teach himself at home.

The heart-warming track resonates with families and expectant parents and is produced by the talented and much-respected producer Jay Picasso.

Woodward, 26, is massively influenced by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Matt Monro, Nat King Cole but says his taste in music ‘expands up until present day’.

Speaking more about his single and expecting a baby during Covid-19, he said: "The pregnancy hasn’t been easy, we haven’t been able to see anybody because of covid but already being a mum to 2 Kayleigh just pushed through, grinned and bared it.

Carrying on being the best mum in the world! It fascinates me how she just cracks on with a smile on her face no matter how hard times get.

"She truly inspires me and is honestly the best mum and partner I could ask for."

He added: "This is also me, not staged not just loads of words thrown together to make a song, this is my life and my family. You will see this in the video which consists of homemade videos from my family’s life since finding out we were having a baby."

Since he came second in Britain’s Got Talent in 2016, Woodward has been busy entertaining people across the globe, performing in destinations such as Vegas and the Maldives.

He most recently teamed up with Gary Barlow during lockdown to give fans a duo'd rendition of Dean Martins ‘Everybody Loves Somebody.’
