Footage shows a 'crazy' queue for Primark in Croydon as non-essential retailers opened their doors on Monday.

Eager shoppers were seen queuing for bargains following more than a three-month wait for shops to reopen.

It comes after the government confirmed in a recent Downing Street conference that stage two of the roadmap could go ahead.

Today (April 12), people took to Twitter to speak on the astonishing queue for the retail chain.

One person said: "I live in Croydon and walked past my local Primark - the queues were absolutely demented. Insane. Also, it snowed this morning."

Another person said shortly after 1.30 pm: "There is a very long queue for Primark in Croydon right now.

"I might save the need for jeans and trousers shopping for later in the week."

Similar scenes were pictured outside the clothes store in both Tooting and Bromley Bluewater, as shoppers rushed to the stores in excitement this morning.

Despite the long queues, many shoppers said that the wait was quick, and that they were soon inside the shop.

The shop will resume its hours for late night shopping and will be open from 8am to 9am on Thursday.

For the rest of the week, the store will be open from 8am to 8pm every day except Sunday, which will open between 8 am to 5 pm.
