Nine locations have been earmarked by Premier Inn as target locations for new hotels, with sites across south London.

Recent documents from Whitbread, the firm which owns the national hotel chain, has revealed where the company wants to build next.

Known as 'target locations', the Premier Inn updates its lsit every year as new hotels are built and fresh targets and demand are identified.

In the 2017/18 financial year, for example, the chain said it had identified and secured 31 new hotel locations across the UK and Ireland - the equivalent of 4,300 new bedrooms.

And now adding a host of new locations, nine areas right across south London have been identified and are as follows.

In south east London, the locations are:

  • Kidbrooke
  • Beckenham
  • Surrey Quays
  • Camberwell/Peckham

In south west London, the locations are:

  • Twickenham
  • Vauxhall
  • Streatham
  • Stockwell
  • Clapham Junction

Specific locations in these areas have not yet been confirmed.

A new 274-bedroom Premier Inn was just opened in December in Southwark's The Cut, SE1.

Whitbread says it is "continuing its network growth in strategic parts of the capital.

Derek Griffin, Head of Acquisitions at Whitbread, said: “Premier Inn has a bright future in London and this latest opening is testament to our confidence in the city, the market, and our product.

“Covid-19 has impacted the hospitality industry in the short-term. But our long-term strategy remains to grow, to be ambitious about securing the best sites in strategic locations, and to identify outstanding opportunities where we know there will be demand for our bedrooms.

“Our new opening at The Cut in Southwark is an excellent example and will be an important destination for leisure and business visitors for years to come. We’re looking to secure more locations like this in 2021 and have live requirements for new hotels in similar locations across London.”
