St Nicholas Shopping Centre has been unveiled as south west London’s latest vaccination centre.

It follows the opening of a vaccination centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital on Monday and Battersea Arts Centre and Croydon’s Centrale Shopping Centre last week.

NHS staff and volunteers have taken over a space on the ground floor which has been adapted to allow social distancing to be maintained.

Dr Dino Pardhanani, GP Borough Lead for Sutton, said: “The St Nicholas Shopping Centre is in the heart of the town centre and enjoys good transport links – making it an ideal location for our latest vaccination centre – so we’d like to say a big thank you to the team there for helping us get it up and running.

“In the coming weeks and months, the shopping centre will be used to help us vaccinate as many people as possible, which will offer us realistic hope of a way out of this pandemic.

“The Covid-19 vaccines are safe, simple and effective, providing us with the most effective way of bringing Covid-19 under control.

"However, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to speak to your GP or visit NHS.uk for the facts about the vaccine.”

Gavin Waller, Centre Director at the St Nicholas Shopping Centre, said: “We are really pleased to have worked with NHS Sutton on this project.

"The past year has been an extremely challenging time for so many people, and we’re all looking forward to getting back to some kind of normal.

“We are delighted to have the new NHS Covid-19 vaccination centre in the St Nicholas Shopping Centre and to be able to help the NHS with the vaccination programme, as we move towards being able to reconnect with family and friends safely once this lockdown ends.”

The site can be accessed at two main doors at either end of the centre with both entrances being suitable for wheelchairs.

It can also be reached from the St Nicholas car park which has a walkway across the main road with direct access to the first floor of the centre. Lifts are also available.

The centre will operate by appointment only. Fore more information about the vaccination programme visit here.
