A SCHOOL in Banstead has received a life-saving defibrillator from a retirement developer.

Woodmansterne Primary School recently received the donation alongside a £150 voucher to contribute to their school library.

Retirement developer McCarthy Stone, made the donations after children at the school produced a gallery of art to brighten-up one of McCarthy's sites.

The newly installed Automated External Defibrillator will be easily accessible in the event of anyone entering cardiac arrest – whether they are at the school on Carshalton Road or living nearby.

As soon as Government guidance allows, the defibrillator will be commissioned, and staff at Woodmansterne Primary School will undergo training to become registered users.

Julie Ward, National Sales Director for McCarthy Stone, commented: “Supporting and engaging with the communities close to our developments is a key focus at McCarthy Stone and we are very grateful to the children at Woodmansterne Primary School for producing drawings and paintings which we have now displayed on the hoardings at the Goldfinch House site.

“As a gesture of thanks, we have presented the school with a £150 book voucher to help boost its learning resources and a defibrillator.

Your Local Guardian:

"Although we actually hope that the defibrillator is never required, it is reassuring to know that it could make a massive difference in the event of an emergency.

"We pride ourselves on developing close-knit communities, never more so than during this very challenging time."

Clare Goldsmith, Head Teacher at Woodmansterne Primary School, said: “We are extremely grateful to McCarthy Stone for helping us to invest in such a vital piece of equipment as well as providing us with a voucher so that we can add new books to our existing library.

“Being able to install a defibrillator locally will bring great reassurance and was something we had been planning to do.

"With the help of McCarthy Stone, we are now able to provide support should an emergency occur as well as train members of our team”.
