A man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs after a fatal crash in Mitcham on Monday (March 15).
The casualty, thought to be a pedestrian in his 30s or 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene in Linden Place, between Baron Grove and Mitcham Park, at around 8.11am.
Police have since confirmed a suspect has been arrested in relation to the incident.
Eyewitnesses told the Wimbledon Times that they saw a scaffolding lorry at the scene.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said on Monday: “We sent an ambulance crew, two paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic, and an incident response officer to the scene.

"We also dispatched a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance, which consisted of a paramedic and a doctor in a car.
“The first medic arrived at the scene in less than four minutes.
“We treated a man for very serious injuries to his leg but despite the best efforts of our medics the patient sadly died at the scene.”
