Your Local Guardian:

Wandsworth resident Julia Lalla-Maharajh, who is founder of the Orchid Project said: “Dons Local Action Group is a cause particularly close to my heart. I’ve lived all my life in Tooting and I’ve volunteered all around the world.

"The pandemic opened up the possibility of focusing on my community and doing what I can to support my fellow south Londoners.

"We all walk these same streets, just some with more privilege and opportunity than others.

"DLAG for me is a way to be of service and connection and to show kindness. This celebration in the midst of truly awful times is a way to remind ourselves about the power of caring and kindness”

Craig Wellstead, Co-founder of Dons Local Action Group said: "The past 12 months have been a real rollercoaster of emotions, but our community coming together has been the thing that sticks out the most.

"This event is a massive thank you to every single person who has volunteered, donated or just engaged with us and the work we are doing - we want to celebrate you all and let you know about the work we continue to do”
