TfL has issued updated travel advice ahead of planned strike action by bus drivers next week.

It comes as bus drivers with trade union Unite take strike action against parent company RATP Group over new contracts and pay cuts they say are being forced through amid the coronavirus pandemic.

TfL warned of the possibility for disruption in west, south west, and north west London next week on Wednesday (March 3), Friday (March 5), and Saturday (March 6).

While a message from London’s transport body urged people to stay at home as per the government’s coronavirus guidelines, it urged RATP Dev Lonon and Unite to resume talks to avoid further strike action.

The statement read: “If the proposed action goes ahead it will only affect a small proportion of the capital’s buses, with 59 day routes, six 24-hour routes, six night routes and nine school routes - predominately in south west London – expected to be affected.

“TfL will ensure as many bus services run as possible but customers in west, south west and north west London and parts of Surrey and Hertfordshire are advised to check before they travel on Wednesday 3, Friday 5 and Saturday 6 March.”

All other London buses are due to operate as normal.

Residents facing possible disruption are advised to check before they travel, leave extra time for their journey, and where possible, consider alternative transport.

Real time service updates will be available on the TfL website TfL Go app, with information on quiet times on the network also available on the website.

London Underground, London Overground and London Tram services will operate as normal during the week, with some planned closures due to engineering work on Saturday 6 March.
